The Australian Sharks men’s water polo team have settled in well to their Singapore surrounds as they finish off last minute preparations for their FINA World Championships campaign in Shanghai, China next week. After two matches so far in the pre world championships tournament against Germany, Hungary, Spain and Croatia, the Sharks have mixed their form with an impressive 8-5 victory over Croatia and a 10-7 loss to the Spaniards.

The Australian Stingers have continued their preparations for next week’s FINA World Championships with a dominant 18-5 victory over Oceania neighbours New Zealand. Coming off an impressive display against the Australian junior team on Sunday, the senior girls built on their good form overpowering the Kiwis five goals to nil in the first quarter.

AWPI Director John Birch steps down from board
Long standing Australian Water Polo Incorporated Director John Birch has stepped down from his post after more than ten years in office.Fellow Queenslander and 2008 Olympic Games bronze medallist Amy Hetzel will replace Birch on the AWPI Board.Hetzel was formerly a Board Appointed Director but the television journalist and producer has now been appointed by the Board to fill the casual vacancy caused by Birch's resignation.
